A case for air ambulance officers
TrustAir Aviation is launching a new system to address the HR crisis in the European air ambulance market. The new service responds to the shortage of well-trained healthcare workers and the financial constraints in the air ambulance industry.
TrustAir’s solution leverages Hungary’s highly trained « ambulance officers » who can perform many advanced medical tasks traditionally done by physicians. In many cases, these professionals can safely manage patients based on STEP system’s categorization, reducing the need for flight doctors.
TrustAir introduces this service as optional to increase availability and allow shortened waiting time for patient transport, ensuring patient safety and client agreement. This initiative aims to maintain the availability of fixed-wing ambulance aircraft, especially during peak seasons.
It also aligns with international practices (e.g. US) where non-physician medical crews are accepted, enhancing operational efficiency and flexibility. TrustAir’s in-house medical department will oversee the implementation to ensure high standards and successful integration into the market.
